How to
Paint Bathroom Tile? Simple as Pie
Painting bathroom tile is probably the easiest way to give a
bathroom a fresh new look, but to do it you first need to learn
how to paint the bathroom tile. It's not just a matter of
taking a paint bucket and brush. You have to do it right,
otherwise the tiles' paint will begin to chip in a matter of
days, and fixing that, is a real chore.
When you go to buy your paint be sure to tell the associate
that you plan on painting tile, so that he gives you the type
of paint that will adhere best to the tile. It should be some
type of oil-based paint, and you may need a sealer, and
finisher as well. You need to ask someone that really knows
paint. If you get a kid from “Walmart” then he probably won't
know what you are talking about, and you need to go find
another store that has a paint specialist.
Once you have bought the right type of paint then you need
to prep your room. First, you need to tape off the area, and
you want to make sure you cover the areas you don’t want to
paint. Press that masking tape on well, so that paint wont slip
through the edges. You may want to use a combination of masking
tape and newspaper. Be sure to use the thickest kind of masking
tape and to get the kind that adheres well.
Open your paint, and any additive that the paint specialist
told you to use. Then make sure you mix it well. This is going
to take more than just a couple of minutes. You should mix for
as long as 5 to 7 minutes to make sure the paint has an even
consistency.
Pour what you are going to use in a painter tray and cover
the rest of the paint, to keep it form drying. When you use
your paint brush, you want to barely dip the brush in, just
enough to get fairly good coverage, but not all the way to the
top. Then you want brush it against the edge to get all the
dripping paint off. Use a small brush to go over outlines, like
the sink and the toilet, shower, and cabinets. Then let each
section dry before applying another coat of paint. Let the
whole thing dry and apply paint to any missed spots.
That’s truly all there is to learning how to paint bathroom
tile. As you can see from the above instructions, it's fairly
straight forward, and easy. It's just a matter of choosing the
right paint.
